DAVE KALLEN joined Caber Hill as Managing Director in November 2014 to head the firm’s M&A practice in the food, beverage, and gift categories. Dave brings over 30 years of experience identifying growth opportunities in the CPG space.
Prior to joining Caber Hill, Dave spent 15 years as the owner of Aspen Mulling Company, a category leader in the specialty beverage sector. He sold Aspen Mulling to a strategic acquirer in July 2014, successfully navigating numerous obstacles and challenges to achieve a transaction at an accelerated pace. In addition to his new responsibilities at Caber Hill he is working closely with Aspen’s new owners to develop and implement a successful transition and implementation plan.
During his time at Aspen, Dave launched dozens of products and expanded the category by creating new flavor profiles where none existed. He also successfully launched a new brand targeting different sales channels without cannibalizing Aspen’s existing core customer base.
Dave began his career at his family’s business, Bake-Line Products, the largest private label cookie producer in the U.S. Dave served in numerous sales and operations positions with the company. In 1993, as Vice President of Operations, he played a significant role the sale of the company to Keebler. He continued in an executive capacity with Keebler, serving on international committees and integrating production in multiple facilities.
Upon leaving Keebler he consulted with a number of businesses, creating key relationships for those companies to develop programs for the private label segment of the food industry, while simultaneously searching for a company to buy, ultimately acquiring Aspen.
Dave is a cancer survivor and is active in numerous organizations that support bone marrow donor drives and the fight against cancer.
